"Heroes Activity Center’s 1st Dog Class"Hero Assitance dogs

On Monday evening, May 11th, Hero Assistance Dogs, Inc. held it’s first dog class at the new Heroes Activity Center located in Hernando, FL. We want to start by saying Thank You to all who participated in the fun filled learning class and Thank You for the donations that were given to help with raising and training HERO assistance dogs.

There were many different breeds to attend, from the littlest Yorkshire Terrier to the largest Great Pyrenees. The class provided a great social environment for the dogs to learn how to socialize with other dogs as well as strangers, along with learning valuable lessons. The lesson for the evening was the Emergency Sit. All of the dogs did very well and we moved on to some fun filled games where the dogs learned to weave in and out between other dogs and people.

The class was taught by Diane White, who also brought along Hero’s assistance pup in training Maya, who was handled by Rebecca McCoy of Academy Of Canines in Ocala, FL. Another one of the wonderful Hero assistance pups in training, Ella, also attended handled by her puppy raiser Julie Drexel.

After the class ended, we were delighted to see so many dog owners stay to hear about our therapy dog program and what it takes to get their dog certified as a therapy dog. We are happy to see so many new faces taking an interest and becoming a part of HEROES. Please feel free to join us at any of our upcoming events! All events will be posted here on HEROES web site.
